Euphorbia trigona , also known as the African Milk Tree, is an upright, branching succulent in the Euphorbaceae family. Its candelabra growth habit resembles that of a cactus, except for the small leaves that emerge on the ridges. Segments are easy to propagate, but sharp thorns and skin-irritating sap mean this plant should be handled with care. Care of Euphorbia trigona: Full sun to partial shade, temp 40 to degrees, generally grows to about 6 ft tall indoors but can grow much larger, allow to get dry between waterings.

This very distinctive plant has spines along its stems and small leaves that cover the edges of the stems and stalk. The plant is also known as an African Milk Tree which is given due to the milky white sap that comes out when it is cut or broken.

My Euphorbia trigona rubra was growing like a weed and needed a bigger base to keep it in proportion.
